Upcoming Games
2007 was definitely an amazing year for games. Mass Effect, Assassin’s Creed (arguably), Bioshock, Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, The Organge Box, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank: Tools Of Destruction, Call Of Duty 4 are just a few titles released that year that stood out. And that sheer quantity is no mean feat. But what can we look forward to this upcoming year? Well, us Brits are slightly behind the American market with Super Smash Bros. Brawl being released tomorrow and No More Heroes and Rock Band out way before their European release dates. I hate this country…
But anyway, here are the games that I’m most looking forward to (and some that simply have a lot of potential) this upcoming year (and beyond)…
I will say quickly to take the anticipation ratings with a pinch of salt. They are relative to the games I’m looking forward to, not all games that are coming out.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl – Nintendo Wii
Yep, the inevitable one. Still without an official PAL release date, although speculation is naming around May/June time as being likely, this game will be simply awesome. Having clocked up hours upon hours on Melee with friends I’m seriously looking forward to kicking their arses once again on this upcoming Wii release.
Anticipation – 5/5
No More Heroes – Nintendo Wii
Like I said before, this is already out in the States and gets released over here on Friday and it looks damn fun. Exploring a (unfortunately, widely empty) city with a huge motorbike and slicing people in half with a huge laser sword – what more could you possibly ask for? Apart from stroking kittens…
Anticipation – 3/5
Condemned 2 – Xbox 360/PlayStation 3
Violence. We all love it, no question. And Condemned 2 seems to be raising the bloody bar when it comes to beating the shit out of people all in the name of pure, bloody violence. Fantastic.
Anticipation – 3/5
Dark Sector – Xbox 360/PlayStation 3
I don’t really know much about this game, other than it steals a fair few game mechanics from Gears of War, but that can only be a good thing, right? Oh, and guess what else? It’s violent.
Anticipation – 3/5
Grand Theft Auto IV – Xbox 360/PlayStation 3
One of the most anticipated games of this generation is finally hitting store shelved at the end of April and the new combat and shooting mechanics should hopefully make the previous games in the series look archaic. I’m not the biggest GTA fan in the world, but the potential within this release makes sure that I’m looking forward to it.
Anticipation – 4/5
And the rest, because I’m lazy…
